RELIGIOUS EMBLEM PROGRAM FOR CUB SCOUTS The religious emblem program was created by the various religious groups to encourage youth to Each religion has its own program with their own requirements. There are separate programs for the Catholic and Jewish faith. The “God and Country” program includes Protestant and Independent churches. Enclosed in this packet you will find the requirements for each religion. This is an optional program to be completed through their specific religious organization. Religious instruction should ALWAYS come from the specific religious organization, NOT THE DEN OR UNIT LEADER. In most cases, you will talk with your own religious leader to determine what program to follow. Each scout is required to have his own workbook. Please talk with your specific religious leader BEFORE starting the workbook. In most cases, the workbook is worked on in the family setting, and the religious leader then goes over the pages with the Scout, and signs off on the book. The actual emblems are not available in the Council office, but must be ordered individually. The workbooks can be purchased at the Scout Shop. In each workbook, there will be instructions on how to obtain the Emblem. The emblem is presented by YOUR RELIGIOUS LEADER in your place of worship in a meaningful ceremony. Some Churches like to present all emblems on Scout Sunday. Once you have received your Religious Emblem, you can then be presented a Cub Scout Square Knot patch that can be worn on your uniform. Specific questions can be forwarded to the Religious Emblems Coordinator. |
